
Hey take a look at this Fluval G3 Advanced Filtration System Overpriced!By natasI recently purchased a Fluval G3 for my 55 gallon cichlid tank. I didn't buy it at list price, I would've rated this item even lower if so. The gph on this is terrible, compared to other canister filters on the market in the $100-$300 price range. I also own a Fluval 305 (running both), which filters more gph and is less than half of the price. The Fluval G3's screen is nice to have, to check flow rate, temp, and cartridge lifespan. Unfortunately, the screen alone isn't enough to justify buying this.Please note that when buying a filter, especially for cichlid tanks, it's important to filter the tank's water 5-10x in a hour (most recommend 10x). Therefore, neither the G3 or G6 offers much filtration for a 55 gallon. It's misleading that products like this, list "up to 80 gallons" on the packaging. If you're going to spend your money on the G3, might as well spend the extra $50 and get the G6. That's one of my regrets, along with buying a filter with such low gph filtration.The Fluval G3 does seem to filter well and provides a decent amount of flexibility in filter media placement.
